Bio
Born and raised in Rhode Island,
Joshua Lopes is a (not so) newly
encitizened denizen of the northern
New Jersey area, where he is
establishing (has established?)
himself as a teacher, guitarist,
bassist, composer, noise designer,
avid parenthetical statementeer,
haphazard neologist, and overall swell
guy. Joshua is also known as Mr.
Lopes at Ivy Hill Elementary School in
Newark, where he teaches
instrumental music.
Joshua plays in the electric guitar
quartet "Dither", where he has played
with such luminaries of guitar
weirdness as Elliot Sharp, Marc
Ribot, Mark Stewart, Nick Didkovsky
as well as luminaries of non-guitar
weirdness, like Ches Smith, Corey
Dargel and Molly Thompson.
Joshua also plays in Nick Didkovsky's
metal group Häßliche Luftmasken, as
well as participates in Michael
Sperone's Tintinnabulation and On the
Cusp NJ New Music Association.
